Stone Mountain Hike

Leap Year Jigsaw PuzzleLeap Year Jigsaw Puzzle

As promised, here is a travelogue of our day hiking at
Stone Mountain State Park in Roaring Gap, NC. It's about 4.5 miles up, over, down, and around the mountain which is a 600' high dome of granite lying just below the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Agape, the dedicated little mother, carried Baby Think-It-Over in her sling the whole time. She wouldn't accept any offers to help.
The stone is so white, it looks like snow in the sunshine.

Unfortunately, the day was marred by tragedy. A young man ignored the many warnings and lost his life falling down the waterfall while we were there.

Here is the west face of Stone Mountain in all of its sunset glory. That black speck to the right of the large crack about midway up is a climber.
