Update on the Landscape

It's about time for an update from the Martian landscape. Here is the state of affairs just before we left for vacation:
As you can see, the footers for the new wall are in the ground. The work has received a detailed inspection by the kitty patrol . . .

. . . and it now has bears the ubiquitous kitty stamp of approval!
The backyard and racetrack have been raked smooth and seeded with hopes of a return trip back from the red planet to green Earth.
Amber made the trip from up north to the beach by Amtrak and arrived at this charming and beautifully restored station in Hamlet NC:
On a final note, here is the most incredibly brave little five year old guy: His mom and dad brought him over a couple nights ago to get his head sewed up. He sat in his mother's lap stock-still, and never even made a peep throughout the whole procedure. He was wearing Spiderman pj's, but if you ask me, his courage out-shines Spidey any day!

Mud, Glorious, Mud!

ROAR R R R!!! Jigsaw PuzzleROAR-R-R-R!!! Jigsaw Puzzle

This is what happens to mild-mannered women who have had their fill of mud! One person asked the question, "Where's the mud?" To which I reply,
"Here."

. . .and here,

. . .and here, grrr!!!!!

here, too . . .

now multiply that!

Bridge over the River Red

ROARRRR!!!!!!!!

Here a little, there a little, everywhere: MUD!

The one shot I took in the yard that does NOT have any mud in it! I had to practically lay on my back and shoot straight up to get it.
Some other changes around here that are all part of the master plan. Amy, these 2 shots are for you! I know you will be proud of us!

My son, the master builder, who will save us from disorganized clutter.

Ramping Up for the Holidays

Pet Me! Jigsaw PuzzlePet Me! Jigsaw Puzzle
I was supposed to be in Richmond this weekend shooting on a project for the Handbell Guild, but the job was cancelled at the last minute, so I received the gift of time instead. This year is McPherson Thanksgiving so we are going to spend the holiday with David's brother, Jimmy, in DC. I took a giant step out of character (always doing things at the last minute) and actually launched into the cooking and preparations yesterday. I wouldn't want to get too far ahead, though; I'll need something to keep me up until 4 in the morning on Wednesday night, Right?

So, here's a little documentary from our quiet day at home:

Cranberry Chutney: As tasty as it is pretty!
And here is how you make it:

Holy Batmobile, Robin!! The cracker house village is already under construction!!
Dr. Mac with his cat and Mac (sporting his latest in techno-geek wear: a brand new bluetooth ear thingy.)
CatNap and MacNap:

Our kiddy-widdies are such a big part of our day . . .
I love Mata Hari's big, rosy pink ears, a nod to her Siamese heritage.

How about those McMuffin whiskers!

Menagerie

Babies are SOOOOO cute!!! No matter what size or what kind. Today, Agape and I rode down to Ennice to see a new foul.

And Agape was thrilled to "practice" riding before she goes to Camp VA Jaycees. (I took a short ride, too, but it ain't purty, so you're not going to see it here!)

Here's some more babies:

And here are our resident babies, Mata Hari and McMuffin McPherson (though they are not really babies any more.) Aren't they just the epitome of the Lazy Days of Summer?

Last, but not least, we got to see the US of A's multi-billion dollar babies streak across the clear evening sky, but I don't have a picture of that. The space station and shuttle were but a mere bright speck in the night.
