Shatley Rings!

John the Baptizer Jigsaw PuzzleJohn the Baptizer Jigsaw Puzzle

Todays puzzle is a section of the fresco painting of John, the Baptizer by artist, Ben Long, found in St. Mary's Episcopal Church in West Jefferson, NC. Notice that the plaster is cracked across John's neck. The story is told that the painting cracked during a thunderstorm, and the artist chose not to repair it. John was, of course, beheaded. Spooky.

The JoyBell Ringers were in West Jefferson today to play for Dr. Brad Bennett, a retired orthopedic surgeon, for his 91st birthday. The children enjoyed playing for the attentive and appreciative audience. Afterwards, we made a surprise (to them) stop at St Mary's to see the frescoes, then lunch at Shatley Springs! They were greatly amused that the S and P had fallen off the sign, so it says "Shatley Rings." The staff at the restaurant asked us to play after we ate and have invited us back to play on a weekend this summer for a free dinner and tips!

OK! So here are the photos from today:

JoyBell Ringers arrive at the Villages of Ashe with our fantastic, new Port-A-Bell cases.

Did I mention how much we LOVE our Port-A-Bells?? (Thanks, Mr. Higgins!)

I saved Joye Marie for last so I could ask all of you to pray for her. She broke her arm tonight!
